WaveSurfer is a really good open source tool which allows you to edit as if yo were a professional any audio file. When we say as a professional, we mean if you are a novice user, you will be able toeditthem too.
According to the author, it is an excellent tool if we want to investigate on speech in the learning evironment, because it allows you to analyze the speech sounds.
It includes the usual actions in this kind of software: convert, amplify, normalize, echo, invert, fade in, fade out, and more.
It supports many kind of formats, like WAV, AU, AIFF, MP3, CSL, SD, Ogg/Vorbis, or NIST/Sphere.
